Who We Are
We are committed to growing and producing the awareness of and more learner-centered education environments as we work to ensure that all individual learners have the opportunity to enjoy, flourish, and succeed in school.
Jack Anderson TEam Lead Hi, my name is Jack Anderson. I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I am currently a junior at Linn-Mar High School and Iowa BIG. I am very excited for this year as I am on three exciting projects. The first is Dancing Away the Stigma, where my team works alongside students with disabilities, and create dances for them to learn and practice in their P.E. classes. Another project I am involved in is Books for Kids. The team is creating and fundraising for a book drive. We will gather as many books as possible and distribute them to non-profit organizations around the Cedar Rapids area. Lastly, I am involved with EdRevision. I am very excited for this year and the potential of this project. Megan Matson Hello! My name is Megan Matson. I am a junior at Prairie High School and a second-year learner at Iowa BIG. I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa! I have a strong passion for show choir, getting involved in the community, and gaining a better understanding of the people around me. When I’m not learning or teaching others about learner-centered education for EdRevision or interviewing and hearing the inspirational stories of homeless people in Cedar Rapids for my ACE’s Resiliency Warriors project, I am volunteering in a 1st grade classroom, singing and dancing onstage, or being goofy with my friends and family. Someday, I want to become an elementary teacher so I can change education for America’s young learners, and of course, travel the world! Contact me! [email protected] Natalie Breffle Sparks exchange lead Hello! I'm Natalie Breffle and I'm a senior at my mothership, Linn-Mar Highschool. I joined the EdRevision project because I have always known that there is something wrong with the traditional school system and this project allows me to pursue my passion and make a difference in education. I plan to go to Iowa State University next year and minor in Spanish and major in either engineering or teaching. I look forward to doing a lot of traveling in the future, and I'm already planning a trip to Peru this summer! Tyler Hewitt Hello! My name is Tyler Hewitt and this is my second year in Iowa BIG. I have a passion for redesigning learning to be centered around the student. I believe that every student should be given the opportunity to learn in a way that best suits their learning style. I am a Captain at Chick-Fil-A Westdale. I have learned a lot about leadership through the opportunities I have been given from my job and I am looking forward to learning more about the business in my captain role at Chick-Fil-A. After high school, my plans are to attend Kirkwood Community College, then transfer to a different college to receive a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. |
Jemar Lee team ambassador Hi! I'm Jemar Lee, an Educational Entrepreneur and senior at Iowa BIG! Iowa BIG is Iowa's only nationally recognized initiative-based high school that produces learners who become makers, designers, storytellers, and social entrepreneurs by creating curriculum with business, nonprofit, and government agencies while solving real-world problems in the community. I am an advocate for transforming education for the benefit of all learners, to make sure each and everyone enjoys their learning and fully succeeds. I wear many hats to make this possible; I am the Co-Founder of EdRevision, speak about LCE around the nation, apart of a Progressions Inquiry Team to help create tools to identify LC environments and I stay actively engaged with the Education Reimagined team to help them with anything I can to amplify the LCE movement. I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I love to socialize, spend time with friends & family, travel, ride bikes and try new food! Mikayla Winter Events lead (pd Days) Hi! My name is Mikayla Winter, I am a senior at Kennedy High School and Iowa BIG. Iowa BIG is also where I became involved with EdRevision. I am on another project called Marion Cycles, a project that plans to implement a bike sharing program in the city of Marion. I also help coach a young girl's volleyball club team. I love this job considering I have been playing since I was in sixth grade. Following this year I plan on attending Iowa State University for business. After achieving my business degree, it’s my dream to move downtown Boston and live in the business district. I’m very excited for this year and what it brings and hope to make a difference in schools and communities alike! Olivia Christensen Events Lead Hi! I’m Olivia Christensen, a senior at George Washington High School and enjoying my first year at Iowa BIG. I joined EdRevision after attending a Spark House conference with the members of the Ed Revision team. I joined the team because I've began to notice the benefits of learner-centered environments and I enjoy working with other people who are just as passionate about improving education as I am. I’m excited to be apart of an awesome team and to see our hard work pay off. I plan on furthering my education at Kirkwood for Marketing and Management with a minor in French. |
