The month of January was an exciting month for our EdRevision team, filled with educational trips and plans for the future of our project!
Jack and Jemar headed out to San Francisco this month to attend a Pioneer Lab Training, run by Education Reimagined. This training was attended by educators, students, and people wanting to become a part of the Pioneer Lab community. They had a lot of fun learning more about learner-centered education and exploring the city (I think they especially enjoyed the warm weather!)
While Jack and Jemar were basking in the California sun, the rest of our team was packing to head to Minneapolis for a one-day EdVisions conference. We spent time in Minneapolis team-bonding and shopping at the Mall of America, which was so fun! Jack and Jemar flew into Minneapolis in the middle of the night and in early morning, we all got to attend the conference together.
Jemar was selected to be the keynote speaker at EdVisions, and he delivered an inspirational speech about his past experiences in the traditional school system, and how Iowa BIG has transformed his life. He encouraged teachers to reach out to their students that may be struggling and ask what they might need to succeed. It was an incredible speech, and our team was so glad to be there supporting him and cheering him on as he gave it!
After getting settled back home, our team had the first of many monthly update conference calls with Education Reimagined, located in D.C. We received much appreciated tips to further our plans for Sparks Exchange! Our team also got workshop ideas that can be used in the conference we are planning and the five PD days we’re hosting for teachers in the area this school year. We are so incredibly thankful to be working with such a powerful and life-changing organization like Education Reimagined, and we thank them for everything they are doing to assist and support our EdRevision team!
As always, we are furthering our knowledge of learner-centered education, focusing on the five pillars! Our team is so excited to get our plans rolling and make a difference in our community!
Stay tuned for next month’s newsletter to be updated on our progress with our upcoming conference, PD days, and Sparks Exchange program!
